Endless ocean

Position: 0.825 S, 94.589 W

We have a steady 10 knot wind today, and an endless ocean in every direction. We expect to arrive in Marquesas in about 15 days.

Geoff and Pete,
It has been raining and crap here, not a lot has been happening.
Carlo swaped his model boat thing (that supposedly flys as well evenknow he broke it before it took off) for a motobike. So carlo and i have been fixing it up. When you kicked the engine over it would make this awful sound, like the sound of cogs grinding in the wrong way, so we had to take parts of it off to see what was happening inside. The problem was that the timing chain was all loose so the valves werent doing what they were supposed to do, but the thing that keeps the chain tight was all decayed, so it was just slipping.
And because its an old bike the part will probaly be quite expensive. so at the moment it is just sitting round waiting for it to be put back together.
Oh, i got yet another university acceptance, this time it is a bachelor of teaching/bachelor of arts. And it can either be done at port macquarie or newcastle, so that is pretty good.
Carlo is thinking about joining the Navy now, rather than getting an apprentiship.
Well thats all the news that i can think of at the moment,
Its just a boring day here, and Dr. Phill is even more boring.
Hope the wind picks up,
Sam.

Hi Geoff,

Really good to see that all is going well. I would enjoy the novelty of the endless ocean and the dolphins but not so much the lack of sleep!

Take care

Luv Kat

Hey Geoff, I can't wait to see some photos of the Galapagos Islands. All is well at the house and the grass is going crazy with all the rain. Missing your lawn mowing skills!!!

Hi Pete,
Always looking forward to all of your postings. I think it is a huge success so far and you both seem to be doing really well. Keep it up and we'll see you soon. Great work! Here in the Hunter Valley it doesn't seem like we will get a summer. Lot's of damp weather and high humidity. I got soaked yesterday by teeming rain loading provisions for ships at Newcastle. Building extensions are underway again, so busy, busy, busy. Cheers! John Heitmeyer
